Este disco de Mars Volta (editado en el 2003) presenta una alta gama de texturas musicales. Es un ambicioso álbum art-rock, en el que agitan la neo-psicodelia, el space rock, el jazz, el hard rock y emo-rock. Es un cóctel enérgico y atrapante, creando un mundo hipnótico en el cual las voces de de Cedric y las guitarras de Omar Rodriguez nos lanzan a este viaje sin retoro. El disco también encierra un concepto; la historia de un artista tejano y viejo amigo de Cedric, el cual no logro una muerte rápida y estuvo antes de fallecer un tiempo largo en coma. Para darle un poco más de condimento, este disco cuenta con la participacion especial de Flea y Frusciante (bajo y guitarra de los Red Hot Chilli Pepers) Un disco ambicioso y revolucionario!
